Chicago Sun-Times LTE Calls for Comprehensive Obesity Care Coverage in Illinois

In response to a recent article from the editorial board of the Chicago Sun-Times focused on addressing America’s obesity health crisis, Alliance for Women’s Health and Prevention CEO, Millicent Gorham, wrote a letter to the editor highlighting the role of insurance coverage.

The letter highlights the impact of obesity––particularly for women––in Illinois both on individual and economic levels. Gorham argues that affordable and equitable access to evidence-based care is essential in order to effectively tackle the chronic disease and its numerous physical, social and financial implications. 

Everyone living with obesity deserves to receive coverage for the full range of comprehensive obesity care options, just as they do for other chronic diseases––it’s only fair.
