EveryBODY Covered’s Employer Open Letter Gains Media Spotlight

Earlier this year, the EveryBODY Covered campaign, led by theAlliance for Women’s Health and Prevention (AWHP), published an open letter to executives at top workplaces for women. The message was clear:treat obesity like any other chronic disease and ensure it’s covered in employee health plans.

The call struck a chord. Nearly 70 organizations signed the letter, and major outlets amplified the message nationwide. The letter was featured in a full-page Wall Street Journal advertisement, and outlets including Axios, Fierce Healthcare, Healthcare Finance, MedCityNews, and The Business Journalshighlighted the growing coalition and the responsibility employers have to support employee health.

This wave of coverage has shined a spotlight on the urgent need for comprehensive obesity care. It underscored two key points:

  • Strength in numbers: Dozens of organizations are demanding change on behalf of women across the country.
  • Employer accountability: Businesses must step up to support employees living with obesity.

Now, it’s time to keep the momentum going.

👉Sign the employee petition to show your support.

👉Use our advocacy toolkit to call on your employer to expand obesity care coverage.

👉 Send a letter in support of the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act to your representative about why Medicare beneficiaries deserve access to safe, effective obesity care.

With the media, advocates and employees all raising their voices, the message is louder than ever: everyBODY deserves coverage.
